Colony Breeding:
Colony breeding is most successful method in budgie. In colony you supply your birds with boxes and let them do their thing. The birds chose their own mates and it can be nearly impossible to tell who the father is because the hens will most likely breed with multiple males.
Eggs:
Once you’ve provided your birds with a nest box they will probably begin to investigate it. It usually takes 1 – 2 weeks before the first egg is laid. Eggs are laid on alternate days. EG: Egg on day one, no egg on day 2, egg on day 3. The hen can lay from 1 – 10 eggs in a clutch though more aren’t unheard of. The incubation period is about 21 days give or take a day or two. The eggs will hatch in the order they were laid.
Chicks
When chicks are first hatched they are tiny! Like little pink jelly beans. They look very weak and delicate but they actually are quite strong. The mother should feed the baby.
